The Origins of Giving

Last week I spoke briefly of the Facilitator 101 course, Family Systems, facilitated by Val Monk. One of the key points of interests was the impact of Family of Origin on our current relationships, values and communication patterns. This is something also looked at by 21/64. (www.2164.net) 21/64 is a non-profit consulting division of the Andrea and Charles Bronfman Philanthropies that helps families build their legacy and philanthropy by using tools and communication to bridge the generation gap and unite the family in the mission and vision of the family philanthropy.

Next week Webb Dussome will be talking about Family Values – Family Foundations and Philanthropy. The session will explore ways that your philanthropy affects the not-for profit sector and best practices on how to utilize the methods that are used to select, contribute to and evaluate the organizations you support to strengthen them as they fulfill their mandates.
